Indiana Adoption Question? |
Fiance wants to adopt my daughter before we get married in September. Natural father left when I found out I was pregnant; he wanted me to abort, I said no, he left. Paternity was never established; putitive father registry never done; he is not on the birth certificate; no child support paid; have no idea where he is residing. Do I have to name him on petition and do I have to serve him notice by publication? Most likely your fiance will not be able to adopt your daughter until the two of you have been married over one year. Judges like to see stability before they allow the adoption, and they equate a year long (or longer) marriage with stability. |
