Catholic adoption row.?

I'm not a Catholic or a homosexual but I think it is the Catholic Church's right to follow their beliefs - also has anyone asked the Muslims how they feel? - I understand they abhor homosexuality.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of homosexuality and whether homosexual behaviour is normal or not is irrelevant in this discussion.

(a) The Government is WRONG to force homosexual parents on to young children; it is hard enough growing up without having to grow up in a family that the vast majority of your friends and your friends' parents think is abnormal.

(b) The Roman Catholic Church is quite right to insist that it continues to ONLY allow adoption by heterosexual couples.

(c) They have said they will disband their adoption service if continuing is in breach of the law.

Ipso facto, it's heads the children lose and tails the children lose. Another nail in the coffin of normal family life by this disfunctional government and another step towards God-knows-what for the future generations.

The Catholics, Muslims and whoever else MUST accept the law of the land - not make it. Their opinion is as valid as anyone else's, but the law must be upheld. If not, they should get the hell outta here.

I fail to see why they can't just offer an adoption service, rather than discriminate against anyone who goes against their out-dated beliefs.

Homosexuality is condemmed in the Bible, can't speak for the Koran, and as the Word of God it seems to me that it is a somewhat higher authority than Westminster. The Churches/Mosques/Synagogs/etc must stand up for what they think, regardless of what Outrage and Westminster say.

The Catholic Church should, of course, follow it's convictions. During an interview the other night, I noticed that John Snow quoted only the first part of Jesus' words: 'Render unto Ceasar the things that are Ceasar...', and conveniently left out the other half, 'and to God the things that are God's'.
The Church is facing something akin to the time when Rome wanted Christians to do what the LAW demanded - worship the divine Ceasar because it was the law of the land. If you didn't you were vilified, and at times, subjected to something worse.
First, Christian-based schools are forced to swallow their convictions when it came to intake (I know the arguments about state funding, etc., but Christian parents also pay taxes) and employment (you can be against Christianity and still demand to be teaching their children). Now it's the turn of other agencies.
The Catholic church has not said that no agency should place children with non-hetro couples; they just want to be exempt from doing it. It would be a shame if they had to close down this area of work, but they may have no choice. And this, from a govt that trumpets 'choice'.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

Unmarried cohabiting couples, whether heterosexual or homosexual, are living in sin.

+ Adoptions +

The issue at hand is that Catholic adoption agencies in the England and Wales handle about one-third of all private adoptions.

The Catholic Church regularly matches orphans with married (heterosexual) couples. People who are living as our religion believes God intended.

There is a new law taking effect in April that says that the adoption agencies will have to place children with homosexual couples.

Catholics believe that not only it is not in the best interest of the child to place them in an environment of immorality and sin that if they follow the law then they themselves will be sinning in the process.

Catholic doctors are not forced to perform abortions. Catholic prison workers are not forced to execute prisoners. Catholics are not forced to commit what they believe to be sinful acts in any other part of society.

What happened to freedom of religion?
