What can we do about the sex trade?

On abc news they realized how eazy it was to purchase a child. I guess earlier it was like an adoption service.
But now it is done illegally & anyone can purchase a child if they have the money. For any purpose.

Something needs to be done about this. What can we do? Any ideas?

Except find these children & free them. Maybe bringing the kidnappers to justice?

The federal government has a law that helps - the Trafficking Victims Protection Act and an office on Trafficking. It also puts out an annual report on trafficking in all countries around the world - the countries with the worst track records can have sanctions imposed.

At the local and state level, police need training to recognize victims of trafficking. Some limited training is going on but all law enforcement need it.

Knowing which products are made with slave labor is also very important - many products are very suspect - from Egyptian cotton to chocolate!

It funny that you mention adoption services. This has been their way of getting kids into another country for many years now.
I think halting IA adoptions or making it much more difficult would help stop the trafficking and kidnappings of children from third world country. Places like Guatemala and China are running rampant with criminal activities and many agency are trafficking children into the homes of people desperate for a baby or healthy toddler. These children are not orphans and have parents back home that love them but are just poor.

i watche that to, it broke my heart, the only reason that country is doing that is because its in such poverty, and that the only reason they can make some money, is because there are perverts that will buy them for sex, i dont even know howto stop it, either the good people go and rescue them from being forced as slaves in the sex trade, or we somehow realize how to stop the country from being in such a downfall, its just a spinning cycle. which is horrible, but i know there are organizations trying to stop

Free them to what? They've nowhere to go in Haiti. Their parents sold them or gave them away because they're too poor to support (feed, clothe) them.

Not to diminish how awful the situation is, but this is no simple little thing; it's widespread and the real solution would be to eradicate poverty there - and there's little prospect for that.

Unfortunately, legislation is not the answer. Remember what a failure prohibition was?

As long as people are willing to pay for anything, others will supply the need. It is greed at work once again, never taking a holiday.

When the liberals decriminalize prostitution the police will not be looking into these types of businesses and it will almost never be uncovered.

Where are they getting the kids from :S

Maybe police should check up on all families with kids to make sure none of them have gone missing.

Well maybe all the druggies should trade their kids in to loving parents. That's one way to solve it.

Well...how are they even getting the kids?
