Should two people from the same sex(2 males or 2 females),be allowed to adopt a child from an adoption agency?

: Reasons why.
: Personal opinion

:) Thank you :)

Even though I can see the thumbs down from a mile away, I'll take a stab at this one.

First of all, there are many people here stating that we (society) should not be able to decide who can and cannot adopt a child. This is a major fundamental flaw in our beliefs. Who do you think decides this issue. Yes obviously the agency, but they are operating under state guidelines. Guidelines that are set by the state legislator. Legislators that are elected by the voting public of that state. So in fact, society does dictate what is and isn't acceptable within a society. That's the very basis of our democratic country. The power is derived from the people.

Second, the ability to raise a physically, mentally, and emotionally stable child is a direct reflection of the parenting that raised him. Many people here have stated that most gay couples have the parenting ability to raise a child properly. This is where I disagree. I do agree that gay couples can provide a number a things that children need in order to strive. They can provide a loving home, where the child could have every advantage money could buy. However, the one thing they cannot buy is a member of the opposite sex. Research shows that children flurish when there are two parents in the home. Research also shows that children living in a household with two parents of the same sex often have gender sex role confusion issues. They also have been noted for having an abnormally high cases of depression and anxiety. People could argue all day about what the real causes are for these imperfections, but I'll offer a simple explaination. Gay or homosexual relationships are not the natural majority. While I'm certain that homosexuality may be the normal feeling for some people, they are the minority. That leaves the majority to be hetrosexual. This leads to the child having a dilemma of questions. Questions that they can struggle with well into their adult lives. Questions that lead to insecurities that small children have quite a nack for recognizing and exploiting. You think the fat kid got picked on a lot, wait until the school yard gets its hands on children with gay parents!

The fact that the couple are good, loving, kind people is irrevelent. Like I'm sure most of you know "the road to hell is paved with good intensions." The intent here is not what's revelent. What is revelent is if society is ready to accept these children into society as equalls, and welcome them as other children are welcome. And I'm sorry to say, but we are not at that point yet.

So long as they meet every other requirement of adoption (background check, parenting skills, financial, etc.), I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to adopt. I've always thought it seemed contradictory -- same sex couples are, by their nature, in a non-productive (non-fertile) relationship yet they want to have children. But regardless of my understanding or lack thereof, if they can offer a child a happy and beneficial home, then they should be allowed to do so if that's what they want. It's not my place nor anyone else's to dictate whether or not a couple should be able to adopt a child -- again, so long as they meet all the prerequisites as required by all couples who wish to adopt. Same sex couples should be treated no differently than any other couple. When there are so many children who need homes (social services in all states are overwhelmed with the number of children in their care), I'm all for anyone who has the ability and the room in their heart to take in a child.

And I agree with the first answer wholeheartedly -- a person's ability to be a good parent is not based on their sexual orientation. I think to prohibit same sex couples from adopting would be a severe disservice to the children who need homes and their potential for a safe, happy and secure future with a family.

No!!! H*LL NO!! This tells our youth that is is homosexuality is OK. IT IS NOT!!!! This is my opinion and it is what I teach my children. If you are going to be gay as an adult, then that is your own perverted business but do not erroneously tell children it is OK. As far as the case workload and surplus of orphan children, we would not have such a problem if CPS wasn't so quick to snatch children up on some unproven allegation. There are hundreds of thousands of people who can't have babies that are begging to adopt. America, we are at zero population growth. If someone will not adopt a baby on the grounds of race, they should not be allowed to adopt.

Yes, as long as they meet the criteria for adoption (financial capacity, parenting skills, etc....).

Why? Because a person's sexual proclivities are irrelevant to his or her abilities as a parent.

thats is currently an issue in the congress. i believe, they shouldn't bcos it is a believe that children raised by homosexual partners seem to suffer from sex-role confusion.

Absolutely!

I think they should
as long as they have the means to take care of it I don't see why not.

yes, of course

why ?
because I cant think of an honest reason why Not.
