Do grandparents in Minnesota have any right to stop the adoption of their grandchild?

While I know everyone has an opinion, I would really like to here from people who know the laws in Minnesota regarding this issue! Thanks!

Sorry a few of your answers you have received are SO rediculous (some were downright mean). I am a grandmother of (almost) four beautiful little children. I am glad that my children didn't consider abortion or adoption. I wouldn't be able to stand the thought of either one.

Call your daughter ( I am assuming ) and beg her not to do this.
If that doesn't work, call a lawyer... QUICK! Find out your rights. We could all tell you what we think the law is but you can't afford for us to be wrong.
If it turns out you can't stop the adoption process, find out if your state recognizes 'Grandparent's Rights'. I have a friend who gets her grandchildren (by court order) once a month on Saturdays.
If the adoption process is stopped by a judge & you may actually be considered, he may order a home study. If it isn't already set up for the child, get your house in order. Kid proof it. A court associate (usually a juvenile officer) will come to your home and take photographs of each room in your home, and write a written recommendation for the judge. They will do a criminal background check and run everyone in the household's name through the system to check for warrants and such.

Make sure this is what you want and that you can handle it before you 'start the ball rolling'.
I wish you(?) luck.

It all depends on how you look at it. In family ways, yes they have the right because that child carries a bit of their flesh and their blood. In legal ways, no they don't because they are not the parents of that child. It's not up to them to say where that child goes, it's up to the parents.

I don't know MN laws, but I'm sure you could call an attorney if you want to try adopting yourself. I'm sure you can't force your daughter/son to keep the child......

They can apply for the adoption and get custody.

No, Grandparents should keep their freakin' mouths shut unless it's about putting your name in their will

I'd think they would, since they're the ones adopting. If they decide to not adopt, then...they don't have to.

Yes, grandparents have rights in most states I believe.

I think they do if the parents don't want their children or anything like that

NO they should stay outta others people business

Yes, if they plan to take custody.

yes, if they want custody and you want to go with them

no
