ADOPTION - Is there anyway two adults can adopt each other as sisters?

or....is there any other way they can be considered legal siblings by signing something legal? THANK U ALL!

What we want is to become LEGAL family to each other...;-)

In the US, no and there's really no point in that.

You can use wills, trusts and powers of attorney to give your friend whatever rights and powers you think she needs.

There's no reason you would ever need a legally-recognized sister. If you want her to be the person that is called if you are in an emergency or something, then you can name her as next of kin on all important documents, maybe get a power of attorney form stating that she's the one who makes life-and-death decisions for you, etc. That still wouldn't make you legal siblings, but it would have the effect that I think you are looking for.

Also, some states allow people to be adopted as adults -- on paper only, obviously. A woman I used to work with (this was in TN) was raised by her stepfather, and as an adult, she got the legal papers showing that he was her dad, which was what she wanted. But it really had no legal bearing on anything.

No. Adoption applies only to parent/child relationship.

You can legally make each other your beneficiaries if you want.

And, feel free to call each other whatever you want.

have your parents adopt her. If there were circumstances where this was possible this would be the only legal avenue i could see.

No, US law doesn't allow this, even if all your parents are dead. Clearly, to allow such adoptions would provide an instant loophole for various laws.

No, not legally.

no just be friends
