What is your opinion of foreign adoption, is it right/wrong or can we really judge?

American's have to wait years to adopt native born babies so many have been going overseas. But there are so many kids who need homes here. Is the system here just too complicated?

I've given this topic a lot of thought because my husband and I are unable to conceive. We are undergoing treatment right now, but plan to adopt if we are unsuccessful.

In the United States we have a social welfare system that does an adequate job of providing healthcare, housing assistance, and education for the less fortunate. So you have less people needing to put their infants up for adoption, then in say a country like China. Which means that if you have the money, and you pass the home study you can adopt a baby under the age of 1 within a year.

In the United States it works differently. If you want a baby and you pass the home study, there is still no guarentee that you will ever be able to adopt one. You can sit on a list for 10 years, waiting to be selected. But, there are several older children in our country who need good homes, who are being bounced around in the foster care system.

I don't believe that overseas adoption is wrong. I think it's a viable way for a family who can not have children of their own, to become parents or for a person that wants a child to have one.

But, I do hope that the celebrities who have really brought publicity to this topic are adopting for the right reasons, and not because the foreign baby is the new hot accessory for Fall.

I think the reason behind all of this is because, they the people
from other foreign places has to do with the fact that they are
poor people and they used to live in card board box. And have
no food. Here in the United States we have more to offer like
food and clothing, shelter. So they leave the adoption for those
whom choose to adopt here in the United States. Money talks
and they are helping those in desperate need. NO Offence to
those that live here.
