If my fiance's ex gave up all parental rights, is she required to sign anything for me to adopt his daughter? |
My fiancee and his ex adopted a child from the Ukraine, they got divorced, she sold her parental rights to him in the divorce. Since we are getting married, I would like to adopt his daughter, will she need to sign anything for me to do this? She is listed on the original adoption certificate. We don't know where she is right now and afraid she will only demand more money to do this. Thanks! >> she sold her parental rights to him in the divorce.<< If her parental rights were terminated through the divorce proceedings then she does not have to sign anything. However, I would make sure it was a termination of parental rights as opposed to just an order granting your fiance sole custody. She signed her rights away, and you are open and free to adopt. Good for you. I hope you have a wonderful, happy family. I wouldn't think so if she signed off on her parental rights already. No she signed all her rights away |
