What do you think about Equal rights for men concerning fatherhood? |
There is a man who is going to the supreme court stating he should have the same rights as a woman in regards to pregnancy (Roe vs Wade) . He states since the woman has the legal right to an abortion, adoption, friendly surrender or to have the baby.....men should have the same rights. Of course since they can't force an abortion or adoption , men would be limited to either signing off all parental rights or deciding to be legally responsible for the baby. I personally do not believe in abortion: That said, I do believe that men should have the same rights as women on this issue. I have sat and watched men trapped in a legal, financial and emotional battle over unplanned pregnancies. In all cases the man's desires were a mute point. The woman had all the power and all the legal backing to do as she pleased with the baby. I think it is high time men had an equal say !!! Naturally a man can't have an abortion, but in my opinion he should have every other right women do when it concerns children, single men should be able to adopt and have half the say if a wife or girlfriend is pregnant. Men are often overlooked in this area, as if they aren't able to love or hurt as much as women because they don't carry children, I personally HATE double standards either way they go. Single men can be just as good a parent as a single woman. Look at actor Tony Danza for example, he was only 15 when his first child was born, the mother, also 15, wanted to give the baby up, so he quit school, got a job, hired a lawyer and gained custody of his son, who he then went on to raise alone. I say BRAVO Tony and equal rights to BOTH sexes. As a father of course I feel I should have equal rights concerning my children. look up masculism in wikipedia, pretty interesting stuff. i happen to consider myself to be both a feminist and a humanist, and i think men should be completely devoid of any legal responsibility if they sign off on a pregnancy they do not want but the mother wants; however, i could understand a taxation standard to take into account their lack of financial support.i dont know how i feel about a man being against a woman having an abortion; i abhor the idea of forcing a woman to have or to not have an abortion. the simple math of the matter is that the woman is a complete and fully realized human being and a fetus is not, regardless of how you want to dress it up. why shouldn't a man have the same rights. of course they should it is their child also. and if he wants his child well he should be allowed to have it. why should women kill their children any way. yes a man should have a dam good say in this abortion crap yes. I've heard about this guy and, in some ways, I applaud his efforts. As it is now, a woman has a 90% chance of getting custody of the kids in a divorce, and the man only 10%. But that's not really part of your question. Should a man have the right to order an abortion? Absolutely not!!! And neither should a woman. No one should have to right to kill a baby. Ever see the movie or read the book "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley. His premise is babies are born as test tube babies raised by the state. If the technology exists would you be in favor of the father taking the fetus in the 1st trimester and bringing it to term in an incubator, then keeping his child? If abortion technology created the problem, perhaps technology should be used to correct the problem. Woman I think I love you, |
