Where am i from?

I鈥檓 from morocco (north Africa) and I was 8 when nana told me I was adopted but that's all she said and I couldn't tell ma about it b/c nana wasn't allowed to tell me anything just last month I went to visit my family and I heard ma from upstairs鈥?window saying to her brother-in-law that she would never tell me anything about my adoption even if she takes me to Mexico
Wow, what a relief finally know what my true heritage is
Now I want to know what city in Mexico but I don鈥檛 know how to ask ma most ppl I know suggested to wait little bit longer for her b/c no body can force her
But the thing is I鈥檓 16 now and it's my right to know about my background
I mean what am I gonna tell my kids when they ask about my country? I DONT KNOW how stupid is that?
Please any idea how to figure out what city or how to make my white African ma tell me

It's not in the best interest of a human being to be treated as the property of adopters. Even many of the people who have adopted agree that their adoptees deserve to have identifying information about themselves. And nearly all moms whose sons and daughters were adopted-out would love to know how their children are. Yet the National Council For Adoption, representing agencies which profit from selling the fantasy of "real parenthood" to prospective adopters, stands in the way.

We must have justice for all adoptees. In the future, no child should have her identity or any other information changed on her birth certificate. No child should be subjected to having his own heritage disrespected and denied. With adoption, not only the adoptee but each successive generation is cut off from their heritage. What right could be more basic than the right to your true identity? What could be more demeaning than to have who you are ignored or denied? Is Heritage a Human Right? It most certainly is.

Is there any other family member you could talk to and explain your feelings and questions, that might give you the answeres.
I would surely sit down with my adopted mother and have a long talk about this. Explain to her. Yes, I have done some ancestry and genalogy searching to find more of my family, even though I know my origin, I want to know who more where and where they were from. Your children will too.
There are plenty of sites on line that I would keep checking to help you.
Do you know where your birth certificte is? Sometimes they change them and put the adopted parents and your new name on it, but maybe not.
If you knew any names or places you go check the census in the area and find the family.
I wish you luck. They should tell you the info.

If you were born in Mexico you will have a very hard time tracking down birth records, etc because their system is rather...casual. I would suggest talking to your mom about how important this is to you and why you want to know. Try to be sensitive, however. Your mom might fell that your desire to know this info is a rejection of her and the life she has given you.
