Help With Unwanted Pregnancy and Legal Rights?

Two weeks ago I found out that a one night stand is pregnant. She wavered back and forth and decided today that she wants to have the baby. I can't begin to describe how much I have come to despise this girl. She continues to work in a smokey bar, has done no research on pregnancy, and dismissed the suggestion of adoption out of hand. Having a child at this point in life would be disasterous. What are my rights? It's such an awful feeling having someone that I barely know controlling my future.

Her body, her rights.
Your rights ended when you pulled your britches down, bud.

You only have rights when the baby is born.

You have no rights in this matter. The secondhand smoke will make the fetus smaller; could cause the child to have ADHD; and could also cause numerous birth defects. It is shown that fetuses exposed to smoke also are more prone to addictive syndromes, like drugs, alcohol, and there is a 77% chance that the child will grow up to smoke.

If she is drinking in these bars, there is also a risk of FAS.

But again...you don't have any rights in this matter. It's her body, and technically, her baby until it is born.

After the child is born, you will need to establish your intent. You will have to pay support, but you will also have to decide whether you want to be in the child's life, or not.

You'll have the right to pay child support and get joint custody.

Hey, those are the consequences of your actions.

She didn't have control of your future before you decided to have unprotected sex, you did. But you gave that up.

If nothing else, get a paternity test before paying up and keep track of bills during pregnancy if you're helping with doctor's visits.

Hard lesson, but live and learn.

My apologies.
Get a lawyer. Find out what she wants from you and what she expects your role to be.
Seriously get a lawyer and start putting your money in off shore accounts.
Women can be evil.

that decision is her god given right to keep the baby or not and who eve tries to con her into giving it up is a baby snatcher, how would you like it if someone talked you out of your baby.

Next time you will think with the right head.Well,maybe.Some people never learn.

You will have the right to visitation, the right and duty to pay child support, etc., etc., etc., until the child that YOU CREATED is 18 years old. You have the right to walk away from the child leaving him or her to wonder the rest of their lives who the father is and wwhat they did to cause him to abandon them.

WOW, I hope your little f u c k fest was worth it! Do the crime, do the time! Be a friggin man!!!

Sorry to hear that. Happened to me 11 years ago. I've got a wonderful 10yr old out of it, and things did calm down. But I got lucky. Unfortunately, you cant do much, and the law is not exactly on your side. Pray that you're not the daddy, and no matter what, get a paternity test.

Not trying to be mean, so don't take it that way.. your right was to say no or use protection.
The only thing you can do is, when the child is born and you are sure your the father... (if she had a one night stand with you.. chances are she had other one nighters with other people).
However, if its yours (DNA), after it's born you can petition the Family court in your area (not friend of the court, or child support) to terminate your own parental rights. There is no guarantee the court will agree and allow it, but it may be worth a try. However, you understand that if you did this, you may not have to pay child support payments, but you can't come back later and bring the child into your life, it would mean you are not daddy, and you have no rights to do squat, so keep that in mind.
Make sure this would be something that you really would like to do, not just out of anger or disappointment, also keep in mind it's not the baby's fault, but more so, the ones who made him/her.
I hope this was helpful to you and my message wasn't meant to offend you or anyone else, but no child should be made to come into the world unwanted or neglected, because of the parents acting out of selfishness for momentary self gratification.

you dont have the right to make her give up the baby.... both of you have parental rights to the baby or you will once your paternity has been established in a court of law....

you can't make her get an abortion... you can't make her give up the baby for adoption...

you are stuck being a father.....for better or for worse.....

You have every right in this world to fight for your child's well being.
Do the test, get a lawyer, don't live with regrets.

Wow superstar, you have a go go gadget penis for a night and now you want to spoil all your fun the future, and this girls life is none of your business nor her body at this point regarding this unborn child. You should have thought it out before you put on beer googles for a quick lay, your very smart schoolboy, you epitomize 60% of the men on this earth. That's why trash pickup is once a week for you, you find who you think is trashy and then put them out to the curb for pick up well guess what things are changing on your block.

I am female and this is my response.

I think it is TERRIBLE that a man has no say when the female partner gets pregnant. They both are guilty of playing around but the female gets to decide to have the baby or not. How fair is that? It is NOT!

I understand why the laws are the way they are in regards to child support, but there should be some way for the father to decide his future. The female gets to choose hers.

It is rotten rotten rotten! Many will blame you for your irresponsible act, but it wasn't yours alone...but you will be forced to pay for it whether you want or not! She has the options, you don't. Sorry.

If I got pg and wanted the baby and you didn't, I would feel that it would be my sole responsibly to raise this child. I wouldn't allow you to see him/her or have any rights, but you would be free because of MY choice.

I wish you the best of luck.

Right now you have no rights. Once the baby is born and paternity is established then you have the right to pay child support. You also have the right to petition for custody or visitation. Don鈥檛 expect to get custody unless she鈥檚 grossly unfit. Things such as failing to research pregnancy and working in a smoky bar do not make her unfit. And if you continue to view this child as being 鈥榙isasterous鈥?then I suggest you don鈥檛 even ask for visitation, because you don鈥檛 need to be around the child. But, 9 months from now, your feelings toward the child may change drastically.

EDITED TO ADD:
Since a couple of people mentioned termination of parental rights鈥his has to be approved by a judge. Judges are VERY reluctant to do it (even if mom agrees and she claims she doesn鈥檛 need your financial help) unless it鈥檚 for the purpose of adoption. For one reasons courts do not like to leave a child fatherless, and for another reason, even if Mom doesn鈥檛 need your financial help now, ten years from now, she might. Without adoption, the chances of a judge allowing you to voluntarily terminate your parental rights are about the same as the chances of a snowball surviving in h*ll. But, of course, you should discuss it with a local attorney.

she has total control of your future and there's nothing you can do about it. Are you sure the baby is yours? Get a blood test after it's born and do a lot of praying until then.
Good luck

Do you some how think that someone here will tell you that you can legally make her have an abortion? You can't. Sorry. Get a paternity test when it's born then deal with. Next time, wrap it up (and get an AIDs test).

shes not controlling your future. you can be a man and except responsibility, or you can simply walk away....sign over your rights
