Can a registered sex offender adopt in missouri?

I have a friend who is married to a woman with children that are in state custody. the dfs has decided that for her to regain custody she has to leave him and of course they dont want to split up. my question is can he adopt her children since thier father wants to sign away his rights? His crime was in 1997 and he spent 3 years in prison. The conviction was child molestation 2nd degree. He has rehabilitated and I trust him around kids. He is around his nieces and nephews a lot and has never tried anything again. All he wants is a chance to stay married and be happy witht he woman he loves. if you can give me a link on adoption restrictions in missouri so i can help him i would appreciate it and please no hate messages. He was 20 at the time it has been 10 years and no reoffense so leave the hate out please he is now a decent hardworking contributing member of society. thank you

oh my friggin god people quit being so paranoid some people can be rehabilitated yes i know there are those that cannot be but if a guy has PROVEN himself for 10 years give it a break. yeah he screwed up and has to pay for t until he dies but he would kill himself before he does it again. Because of the media attention all sex offenders are grouped as permenantly evil. case in point on the news last night there was a story "suspected molester may have driven your kids to school" yes if he is guilty put it on the news but if he is innocent the media has already ruined his life for something he didn't do is that right? NO!!!! now quit being so paranoid and PAY ATTENTION or every answer will be abuse reported

I sure hope not. I'm sorry, but any woman who thinks it is ok to expose her children to a child molester, doesn't deserve to have them. Child molesters are never fully rehabilitated. Abusers will aways be abusers, whether it is against children or women.
Looks like she is going to have the make the decision as to who is more important to her,her husband or her children. I sure hope she makes the right decision. You can always get another husband, but your children can never be replaced.
This isn't meant as a hate message, just the truth.

i cant give you the link, but i can tell you right now that there is absolutly no way their going to allow her to regain custody until she leaves him.

i'm sorry, no hate intended, but i don't think i could trust him. i believe once a child molester always a child molester. i wish i could give you a different answer but i can't.

child molesters are very very good at hiding their crimes and once the damage is done that child will lose a part of themselves forever.

He will never be allowed to adopt a child. before an adoption can go through, a home study must be performed and approved by the court. No court will approve a home study that states that the potential adoptive parent is a sex offender.

The children are already wards of the state. If the mother chooses this man over the safety and well-being of her children, her parental rights will be terminated, and the children will be placed for adoption with someone who can pass the background/home investigation.

Because the children are a sibling group, they would be considered as special needs and will be harder for the child placement agency to find an adoptive home for all of them. The children will either be split apart and never see one another again, or they will be in foster care until they turn 18. The mother has to decide if this is what she wants for her children, by choosing her husband over the children, or if she wants to keep her children. The only way she will be able to keep the children is to divorce her husband.

Your friend and his wife can be happy together. The mother just has to decide that she would rather choose him instead of her children's safety. Once the youngest child is 18, she could always remarry him then. Of course, he would never be allowed to be around any children that the children will have in the future.

There is no hate in this message, just reality. You state that he has been rehabilitated. How can you be sure? Would you really want to take a chance like that with an innocent child?

Would you allow him to give your child, of the same age as his victim, a bath unsupervised? Would you allow him to be alone with your child? I wouldn't. I love my children and would protect them at any cost, They would be more important than my own happiness or my own life.

i would think not because sex offense crimes against children is a federal crime and also a state crime, like kidnapping or murder.

no idk nvrm

It is possible, but it would take alot of footwork to accomplish. You would have to have psychiatrist reports, home reports and so forth. Character references and the like also won't hurt. All of this has to be favorable in order to be effective. In addition the point that he is around children and hasn't reoffended is a point all to the good. For the haters out there-it could have been nothing more than picking up a person at a bar or the like and later finding out the person was under age. It happens. What the conditions of the orginal crime were also plays a part in this. Missouri is a difficult state to accomplish anything in as they tend to believe that you can never change or anything. Once a doper always a doper, murderer, always.... It is probably one of the most prejudiced states in the US and I feel for the people forced to live under its stupidity and paranoia. Contrary to popular belief-per US Dept. of Prisons and other criminal stats-Sex Offenders have the lowest risk of reoffense. The only group lower is capital murderers and that is because they never get out. The chance of a sex-offender reoffending is less than 25%. Some states actually record rates of below 5%. Matters of incest the rates are below 2%. These figures are grossly ignored and distorted by the news media. That group does more harm than good and really needs to get their head out of their 4th point of contact and accurately report the news rather than sensationalizing it.
