How can you justify abortion?

1. For the women's health, you'd be willing to sacrifice your child for your own health? That is EXTREMELY immoral and greedy of yourself if you get an abortion because of risks to yourself.
2. If a woman is raped, it is not the child's fault. There is a perfectly innocent little child inside of you that has NO sin or no fault yet, but you chose to KILL it because it will remind you of a bad time of your life? I think not.
3. If you are not ready to have a kid yet: CONSIDER ADOPTION. Not all of our lives are perfect and we all get some bumps in the road during our lives. If you don't like what somebody does to you during your life that doesn't mean kill them, same goes with your child. And in the state of California (I dont know about the others) you can drop your child off at ANY fire station NO QUESTIONS ASKED. they will take the child to safety and give it to a family in need of a child.

Please reply if you want to justify your reasons for abortion. Also reply if you agree. Thanks

Okay so since there are so many children in the adoption system, lets kill them right?? Nice.

And they ARE alive when they are a tiny little fetus. They roll around, move, kick, even suck their thumbs by the 2nd month of pregnancy.

And for those who just say: "its a woman's choice not yours" it doesnt mean a damn thing because it may be your choice to murder somebody but it doesn't make it right i want to hear why you believe this.

And I have NOT lived an easy life. No, i was not raped, but most people who have halfway decent morals won't kill an innocent child for something that happened to them.

One more thing. To those saying that who knows if the child is going to live: THAT DOES NOT MATTER. You are killing a child that has a CHANCE for survival. My best friend was born because his mother was raped and believe me his mother and himself are SOOOO glad she didn't abort him because she loves him just as much as if he were the child of her marriage.

When abortion was illegal it only made criminals. It did not stop people from making that choice. Pro-choice is not pro abortion, it's the right to choose. Making something illegal does not stop the problem. It's a way that society feels better about itself by stick our heads in the sand.
Drug laws, prohibition, prostitution laws are perfect examples of this.

There will never be one correct answer that will please everybody. That is why I say let people do what they want anymore.

Man u are right on the money This is so true What is 9 monthes of a persons life compared to a 70+ years that abortion is talking away

Woman should do what she wants. its her choice. thats whats good about America. u must be from Iraq where dictators brainwash people.

It's a choice between a woman and herself and her beliefs.

It is extremely greedy to impose your thoughts on women you don't know.

I hate babies rawr!!!

You Can't, for most people that get them. There are over 1,000,000 abortions done each year in the United States, and of that number less than 10 percent are done for health reasons, rape, or incest.

You are entitled to your opinion. It is a woman's choice and something that is between her and God. It's no one else's business! I wouldn't personally have an abortion, but I don't think it's right for someone to dictate to me what I can and can't do with MY body.

The baby isn't really a alive when it is aborted so it's not murder. If you were to take the baby out of the mom (at the same time you would abort) the baby would not survive. Also think about it what if a 13 year old girl gets raped. She has already been through so much with being raped but now you want to make her carry a baby and mutate her body. I don't believe its okay to do late term abortion or to abort because you aren't ready for a baby. But from what you have said I can tell you have lived an easy life. So please shut your mouth until you have lived in someone else's shoes.

The only justification for abortion is that people want to do it, and so must be free to do it.

It is a sham

1. If the mother is going to die midterm what makes you think the child would survive? In any event, while you may find it abborhent, it's called personal choice.
2. Rape. You clearly have never been raped or known someone that has. That is 9 months of re-living the ordeal, more if she were to keep the child. Also, haven't you ever heard of original sin? I have and I am not religious. Again personal choice.
3. How many unwanted and abused children are there already in the system. Once again, personal choice.

It all comes down to personal choice and governments interfering with two key things:
1. Our bodies...flip side of coin....how would you like it if you were told you HAD to have an abortion.
2. Religion. They key to the abortion debate is when life begins, which from a scientific point of view has been established. This only leaves the religious point of view which has no place in our government to be debated.

1. Imagine you had an 11 year old child, who got raped and became pregnant. Well not only will it affect her health dramatically, but what about her education? Put yourself in her situation.

2.Of course its not the babies fault, but what do you think would be the future of this new child. Sent to foster homes all their life shifted from home to home. Of course there are some homes out there for them, but mostly the child would be in a worse situation.

3.see answer above

Another thing to think about. Most people who are against abortion are for the death penalty. so what that tells me is Is that they would rather not abort a 2 day old fetus, then murder a real person who might have made a mistake, or no mistake at all since as you may or may not know the find out lots of sentenced people turn out to be innocent.

How many children have you adopted an how many do you foster? If none, you have no business bitching, be part of the solution!

Special Cases should be honoured.
Case One-a rape victim. a girl goes to a party, she gets drunk or is slipped some roofies. a few weeks later: little blue line. I know you say the child is innocent, but honestly, why would you want to carry the bastard's child?
Case Two-highschool student is very much in love with her boyfriend, and they go on a date, and then hit home. he really wants her and vice versa. well he lacks a condom or the thing breaks. a few weeks later: little blue line. The student also happens to be a honors student, she's on her way to a very qualified university, having the child can seriously do some damage to that record, even if the child is put up for adoption
Case Three- woman consults geneticist and finds out she carries some weird genetics that are only passed down through certain fetuses. She doesn't want the gene to pass on, so she chooses to selectively abort the affected fetuses.
Case Four- girl gets pregnant, she knows the child will not be brought up in a good home(maybe the father won't own up, extreme poverty, you name it), and for whatever reason refuses adoption.
what are these four cases to do? They seem like they couldn't follow through with the pregnancy. I will agree, some cases should not end in abortion(i.e. a married couple...they ought to be able to raise the child, or a student who knows they can refuse sex), but there are some that the only option that remains is abortion

The simple but crucial problem here is one of definition. You are assuming that the fetus is a full legal and social entity from the moment of its conception. However, many people do NOT view the fetus as a legal "person" in this way until much later in its development. Many pro-choice advocates draw the line at the point the fetus becomes viable - the moment it is physically capable of surviving outside the womb.
If you are willing, at least for the sake of argument, to accept this definition, then the arguments for abortion in these cases becomes far more logical and acceptable.

1) If pregnancy presents a serious risk to the woman's health or life, why should her life be risked for a life that has not yet begun? Wouldn't accepting this risk be a form of suicide, and isn't deliberate suicide a form of mruder and therefore also immoral? If wanting to live is "greedy", then this is a planet of 6 billion very greedy people.

2) If a woman is raped, true, it is not the baby's fault - but neither is it her fault. Should an innocent woman pay for someone else's sin? Should she be forced to sacrifice her future and her well-being for an action that was not her fault, and, by this definition, for a creature not yet living?

3) True, birth control devices are available to many people - but accidents happen. People are imperfect, and make mistakes. Simply telling people not to have sex or get pregnant is NOT going to solve the problem of unwanted pregnancies, and you're deluded if you think it will. You have to allow that this will happen, and offer reasonable solutions for it. Again, if you accept the definition that the fetus is not a "child" until it is viable, then abortion at this early stage is not murder.

I'm not saying you have to agree with me. Just test-drive this definition for the sake of argument, and see if you can follow the logic of it. It may help you understand why some people do what they do, and ease your stress.

If you choose to be pro-life and see the fetus as a child from the moment of conception, I can totally understand and respect that. All I ask is that you respect my right to make a different choice and a different definition for myself.

p.s. I'm glad your friend's mother made the choice that was right for her, and that it worked out well for both of them. I wouldn't presume to tell her she HAS to get an abortion because she was raped, or try to make the decision for her. But everyone has a unique situation, and you need to respect that.

There is no justification, good reason or even ok reason to kill a living thing and for those that say it is not a living thing you are fooling only yourself, just cause it may no t survive out of the womb does not mean it is not a living thing. If it is growing, developing, breathing, etc... it is a living thing, how many rocks have you seen grow and develop? Not a single one. Watch an ultrasound of an abortion I did 20 years ago and saw the child (living thing if your not comfortable calling it a child) try to get away from the device trying to kill it and with today's technology I am sure it could be seen more obvious than I saw it 20 years ago. As for those that say it is the woman's choice it is her body what about the body or choice of the living thing you are killing? Who is standing up for that things rights? If it is not a living thing then how can a person that kills a pregnant be charged with double murder regardless of stage of pregnancy, you can't be charged with killing something that is not alive to be killed can you. What about the father of the living thing who is standing up for his rights, the father may very well want the child and he should be able to have some type of rights after all he made it too and you are killing his child by having an abortion. Yes I know the woman has to carry it and put up with everything that goes with that, but that is not the father's fault that is just part of how we are made differently from each other. If one person can tell me of a non-living thing that grows and develops or something that grows and develops that is not alive then I may be willing to accept it is not alive until a certain point, but that point is not birth as it is fully human long before that point. First you would also need to watch an ultrasound or something similar of a first trimester abortion and explain how something not alive can try to escape what is trying to kill it and what that action of trying to escape means if not that it wants to live.

You should volunteer your time, money and council to those women who are considering abortion. There are many different reasons woman make the decision. And who are you to condemn them for theirs?
You could take them to and pay for the doctors appt., in some instances feed, clothe and house them, give moral support and then adopt when the child arrives. How many do you think you can handle?
I am neither for or against. I am for people doing the right thing by minding their own business and staying out of others. What is it about your own life you dislike? If you tried to fix whatever that is. You would not feel compelled to invade someone else's. Other than to do so in a constructive not destructive way. Instead of believing you have the right to judge another.
As far as your comment about killing because you don't like what someone has done to you, isn't our country doing just that?
You'll get much more gratification if you help others, than you will from condemning and doing nothing..

Have you ever seen the article "The Only Moral Abortion Is My Abortion"? Many anti-abortionists are only against abortion until they are raped, or their young daughter gets pregnant, or they themselves find pregnancy at an inconvenient time. Then they want in the back door of the very clinic being protested. After the abortion, it is right back to protesting. Amazing how hypocritical some people can be about controlling other women, but rejecting it for themselves. Here is the link for your education and edification. Note I am personally opposed to abortion for convenience, as a form of birth control after the fact, but I fully support the right of the woman or the caregivers to make the ultimate choice, especially in the case of raped children who are old enough to have been impregnated, but not physically or mentally capable of withstanding the pregnancy, or in the case of the severely mentally or physically handicapped who have been raped.

Very few of those protesting at abortion clinics have adopted unwanted children, volunteered their homes as shelters for unwed mothers, or donated money and time to ensure the mothers and children are fed, clothed, and educated. If they had, there would possible be fewer abortions, but they would rather protest and try to force their opinions, beliefs and religion on others.
