Does a CHILD have visitation rights to his bio mom?

Im the custodial parent (dad) of an eight year little boy who wants to visit his bio mom.However after she put him up for adoption and I stopped it and got custody,she moved out of state and wants nothing to do with the child or his father.She said she never intended to be his mother,but she is his real mom.And she has sent cards and letters to his grandmother saying she may come see him some time but she never does.So does this child have a right to visit his bio mom and her family even if the real mom doesnt want to see him because it wou;ld be painful to see the child she abandoned?

The child by law does have visitation rights to see his biological mother, unless it is court ordered that she is not allowed to see him, you could always try if you don't trust her by herself with the child have the family court order supervised visits were you are the supervisor.

He has every right. However, at that age, I think it all may be confusing. At that age, you don't want your child thinking that he is not wanted. Maybe if there were a visitation, I would leave the word mom out of the whole time. Maybe refer her as a friend. Just a thought.

The best thing to do is to LOVE the kid and DO NOT bring up the things that might HURT him.....
Shelter him and if the day comes that He wants to know her don't stop him!
I too am a custodial DAD with a no good bio mom in the backstage.................and She calls once and a while and PROMISES all kinds of stuff she will never DO!
I tell her My boy isn't around.
We left her when He was 3 1/2 and She has made a lot of unmade promises.......I never brought my boy into it!!!!
He is 15 now and He is confident in who he is.......

Think of it this way: What kind of MOTHER would LEAVE her child?
Do you want that selfishness around?
