Pro-Choicers: Why the high moral horses about *personal* opposition to abortion?

Pro-choicers will say that they themselves would never get an abortion and/or would counsel loved ones to go with adoption or keep the baby. This is expressed too by many who post here in defense of choice - as if being PERSONALLY opposed even while legally supportive of choice is somehow morally superior to being undisturbed outright by abortion.

Is it any LESS moral to be not only supportive of abortion rights but to also have no personal qualms re abortion?

Question is for pro-choicers here. Lifers, I know you'll chime in, but your views are known a priori.

Who the he** cares if we'd have an abortion or not??
We can still be pro-choice and fight for the abortion rights of OTHER WOMEN. Whether or not I have had or would have one is nobody's business but my own-which is the same for women who choose abortion-it is THEIR personal right, and it's not yours or anyone else's business, REGARDLESS of whether anyone agrees or disagrees with HER choice. Women who choose abortion do not have to explain themselves to anyone.
It's not only about one's self. If everyone fighting for the rights of ANY group were only doing it for themselves, how egotistical and self centered they would be!!
I 've known women who've had abortions and I encouraged and supported their decisions once they knew it was what they wanted to do for themselves.
I also support gay marriage yet I'm not homosexual!
Therefore your question which happens to be loaded with generalizations and assumptions has no validity.

This seems contradictory or hypocritical to the anti-abortion types, but think of it this way: There's NO WAY to prevent abortion from happening, no matter how many laws you pass.

Let's face it. The short answer is that abortion is ugly. No one wants to encourage a friend to have one. I was extremely pro life up until the age of 19. I never thought I'd have children at the time. Having an unplanned pregnancy made me understand the thought process that so many women have in that crisis. Although I don't like the idea of it, I am not going to pass judgement on anyone who chooses to do so. Yes, I kept my child and never regretted it a single day. Abortion was the harder of 3 choices I could have made, and I chose to have him. This doesn't make me better than anyone else, or stronger than anyone else. You have to walk a day in someone elses shoes to see the big picture sometimes. And "all women who don't want to have children should keep their legs closed" is not a realistic option. Certain precautions should certainly be taken, but it is not a perfect world and we are far from perfect people.

You, as do so many, oversimplify. I, personally am opposed to abortion. However, I am even more opposed to having a government entity tell women what they can and cannot do with their bodies. I do not believe the answer to this problem is in further legislation. I believe it is in education and family and community support. Even then there would always be some cases where abortion might indeed be the only option.
