Should abortion be illegal or legal?

I have to write a short paper about it for school but I'm having a hard time writing it....I think it should be illegal because it just makes me sad that its even alive....if womens don't want to have the baby then they should give it to adoption but then it's not fair for the child to be wondering who's his/her mother...but yea i need opinions

It should REMAIN legal. Personal views should be allowed to guide an individual in personal matters. Those who are against abortion needn't have one.

Unless you want the government deciding children can sue their parents for doing a poor job raising them or parents can be fined for the misdeeds of their offspring - you shouldn't give unborn, non-viable fetuses more rights than a living breathing adult (as defined by nature) female who is capable of making her own choice.

Legal. Sometimes its not the womens fault she got pregnant, so why should she have to pay the price for the rest of her life? women are raped everyday, condoms break, and birth control is never 100pc effective.

I think it should be legal because I don't believe the government should tell me what I can and cannot do to my own body.

if to murder someone is unlawful, then so should killing a child. soon after conception is made, a heart beat can be detected, which means that the fetus is a living thing. Killing an unborn child is killing a human being.

saftey of the mother- before abortions were legal, back alley abortions took place with coat hangers and broom sticks, many of the mothers would die or get severe infections due to unclean equipment, or their insides would get ripped up so much that they would bleed to death. Legalized abortions provides a safe environment for them to have them.

I believe no law should regulate personal behavior unless it affects others. I also believe abortion is wrong, but as a male I don't have any difficult choices to make. Therefore abortion should be the responsibility of the mother, it should not be financed in any way by the state(or it becomes every ones business) and the mother has the responsibility to consider the position of the father(only hear him out)

illegal. if you were raped or something happened (like a condom breaking) when you were having sex, take the day after pill. Its not like the resources arent there, people who get pregnant are just irresponsible and shouldnt be having sex in the first place.

I believe the only reason for abortion is when the mothers life is in danger and it is medically necessary.

I believe every woman has the right to make this decision for herself.

Not every woman has the same resources (financial, family support etc). Each woman needs to search her own heart, examine her own situation and have a conversation with her God and make the decision that is best for her. Just because having an abortion is not the right decision for me - does not mean I have the right to make this decision for other women.

I also don't really think that men have the right to much of an opinion here. This is a decision they will never never have to make. It's easy for them to get up on the soap box and say "don't play if you don't want to pay". But look at all the dead beat dad's in the world. Unfortunately there are quite a few men out there that when contacted by the girl they got pregnant will tell her "it's not mine" or "its not my problem". Most women know someone who's baby daddy did not step up or even would rather go to jail than pay child support. You know - if we made castration mandatory for all men who did not pay for the babies they helped make then there would not be so many dead beat dads (and abortion rates would probably go down too).

I have friends who have had an abortion. It haunts them. The choice to terminate a pregnancy is not made easily or lightly and it is not forgotten. Contrary to popular belief, very few women use abortion as a means of birth control.

But the same people that want to get rid of abortion also want to get rid of the "morning after pill". That surprised me, I would have thought they would have supported easy access to the morning after pill b/c it would reduce abortions. Next thing you know these fanatics will want to outlaw all birth control pills b/c they keep life from being conceived which is just one step shy of ending a life. There are pharmacists out their that believe they have the right to not fill prescriptions for birth control pills because of the pharmacists personal religious belief. At what point does it end? If a Dr give me a prescription for BC -what right does a pharmacist have to decide otherwise. It's a slippery slope.

I am a man, when I become a woman the I should be given the right to decide if it should be legal or illegal. This is the one question the sperm donor should never have a say in. Also, the donor's opinion is unimportant.

My opinion is quite contrary to the argument that it's the woman's body and she has a right to make her own decisions.
It isn't her body she is aborting!!!! It is the body of a completely different human being than herself.
She is obligated to bring the life to term with the best intentions for the child after the child's birth.

Common sense and intelligence suggests that if you don't want the responsibility of another life then abstain and if sex is too much for you to give up then masturbate!! Get a dildo it's better than getting an abortion.
Post Script:...... I don't think Gracious understands the concept of blood and the placenta? It is through the placenta that the life is given sustenance? Like food, water, vitamins, minerals. And yes even oxygen via the blood of the mother for the body of the foetus to breath?

That was the beginning of the creation of man, not conception in a women gracious. Don't twist words and actions around to support your evil, selfish agenda. Abortion is murder and should be illegal. Adoption is a differant kind of death induced activity (idenity and freedom for adoptees) and should be illegal as well.

Whether abortion should be legal or illegal comes down to basically one issue: When does life start?

Does life start at birth? When specific features can distinguished? When a heartbeat can be detected? At conception? Mostly everyone can agree we have no right to terminate a human life.....so the thing that most people disagree on is when that life really begins.

I personally believe that life begins at conception, and abortion should not be considered in ANY case save that which severly endangers the life of the mother. But, if you a writing a paper, that's what you need to think about...when do you think life begins?
