What would happen here? |
A women is homeless. The women is raped and becomes pregnant. She doesn't know what else to do, so she commits a crime and goes to jail. Would they allow her to have the baby? What happens to the baby? Do they put it up for adoption or what? This question popped into my head in the middle of the night last night. If she goes to jail and has the baby, the baby will be placed in foster care, not put up for adoption. Now, if they can prove she is an unfit mother (and they would have to prove more than she's in jail), they could terminate her parental rights and put the baby up for adoption. However, that is not generally the way it is done. They cannot stop her from having the baby if she wants to. There is no such thing as forced abortion in this country. |
