To sue or not to sue? |
I would have never thought it would happen to me, but Child Protective Services invaded my home a couple of years back and took my daughter for no God given reason. I did a little of my own investigating and I found that they were trying to use my daughter in an adoption scam. I don't know what to do because I have audio tapes, written statements, etc. A lawyer won't even talk to me here in NC. Is there a lawyer that will do this case probono? Is this even grounds to sue? CPS devestated my life and I regained custody of my daughter a year later, which cost me 5 thousand in my entire savings. Now my daughter has to visit with a out of pocket therapist because she still has nightmares when they so viciously took her away that fateful night! Help? I'm not normally a fan of the ACLU, but in these kind of cases, they're a God sent. They'll do it for free AND put experienced lawyers on it. Call them now. Don't wait. I find your story incredible. If you have actual proof that what you say is true then you may be able to sue. Sounds like you cannot afford a lawyer. Perhaps a law school pro bono program near you can help. Sorry, there is a reason the lawyer would not talk to you. It is because you don't have a case. If you had proof of illegal activity by child services you could have gone to the state atty general. Sounds like the lawyers dont feel that you have a case where you have a chance of winning a judgement. Usually you can find a young lawyer who would like to take on a case that will hit the headlines - which yours would. Try lawyers that deal with high profile and controversial cases. I have to agree that attorneys you checked with don't feel you have a chance of winning. There are thousands of "ambulance chasers" that take big money cases for a percentage of the judgement. |
