Breaking news a Christian leader has just called for Sharia law in the UK?

Should UK adopt aspects of Sharia Law?
The Archbishop of Canterbury says adoption of some aspects of Islamic Sharia law in the UK "seems unavoidable". Do you agree?

Dr Rowan Williams told Radio 4's World at One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.

He argued that adopting some aspects of Sharia law would help maintain social cohesion. He cited one example, where muslims could choose to have marital disputes or financial matters dealt with in a Sharia court.
well i think is a big debut because jews court is all ready exeist in the uk.

If you live in a country, you abide by the laws of that country not pick and choose which you want and which you don`t. If you don`t like it go back to your own country.

old news mate

and a load of crap there are no jewish courts in the UK, better check your facts before posting ;)

no way in hell will there ever be Shiara courts in the UK, they are in contridiction with UK law and the European human rights act.

if people want to live be a backwards law then they should not live here in the UK

There should be one ethical law for all, laws in this country have been based on a fair judicial system for years; it's no wonder so many people are emigrating to Australia! Now where did I put my passport?

it aint exactly breaking news! is it Trevor Mcdoughnut?

frankly NO they chose to be here and they should be prepared to play by our rules and our society should not have to change to accommodate migrants if they don't like our rules they they should f**k off back to where they came from

Breaking news, that's old news. In any case, it's just the dear old Archbish expressing an opinion.

He said what?!!!!

He is the head of the Church of England not the British Muslim council!! !!! Our legal system is based on Christian Ethics... If even our own Archbishop can't make a stand for Christ and our law system in favour of Sharia law ....God help us!

I think I need to lie down.

If they do not want the UK laws then kick them out.

I agree that muslims should abide by the laws of the country they choose to live in. if they don't like the laws let them leave

i think we should use Sharia law to deal with the arch bish first. and then the labour party 'for handing us this problem' second. if muslims dont want to live under British law. then lets start shipping the idiots back to where they came from. in this country we dont stone women to death for wearing a paticularly silly pair of shoes. we simply smirk quietly to our selves. lets f@ck em all off to the sand pit they hailed from.

Sharia courts can already make judgements if both parties agree to be bound by the court. This is called arbitration. These courts already exist in Islamic areas of London.

And as for the person who said there is no Jewish court this is wrong. There is one in London:

I think if 2 people both agree to be bound by arbitration of a Jewish or Islamic court (and perhaps a Christian one), that is acceptable.

Infact it is already legal if both parties choose to accept arbitration for the decree of the arbitrator or in this case the religious court to be legally binding if both agreed to it. However this only applies to civil cases.
