What happens if an adoptive mother no longer wants her child?

I have a friend who are the grandparents of two children, their parents are drug addicts and have adopted the children out to some family friends. This lady (I use this lightly) is now after almost 2 years, saying that she no longer wants her 9 year old daughter but wants to keep her 3 year old brother. Does anyone know if there is something legally that these grandparents can do. If not can the adopted mother turn and put the 9 year old up for adoption to someone else? I would love to take this beautiful girl into our family of 4 and her little brother too...is this possible? Do the grandparents or parents have any legal recourse?

These days grandparents have almost the same rights to their grandchildren that the parents do. Talk to an attorney.

She has to go to court to see if she can get them to take the child back.

I hope so. Call 911 and ask to be directed to child protective services.
